AMAZING ANIMAL LOVERS BLOG

Hey, has anyone seen our camera!

Hmmm, I wonder where my mother's camera is? She has looked all over and it's gone! I'm sure it's not gone for good, I think it was just misplaced in the house somewhere...It usually travels with her but for some reason, she can't seem to locate it. It was a great weekend too! She has lots of pictures to share with you on the baby shower! My human brother started high school today too!

Well, we will be back soon, hopefully with the camera in hand!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Deborah, I have a problem....

Hello friends, it was going to be a nice quite night so I could get ready for my daughter's baby shower tomorrow and my mother called...When ever the conversation starts off with, Deborah, I have a problem....I know it's not going to be good. Gypsy, her little dog, she thought ate her hearing aid battery. So off to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic we go and lucky for us, they were not too busy.
Here she is, Gypsy, acting as if nothing is wrong! The floor actually must have smelled real good the way she was sniffing everywhere! The Vet came out and took her to the back to take xrays and while we were waiting...
We saw this sign. Some good advise and I never thought to give the dogs these treats! I then took a picture to share it with you.
Good news, no battery! Yeah!!! It was a good vet visit and my mother was thrilled.
I then take them home and Bernie says, you want a head a lettuce! I say why and he says for taking Gypsy in and he said he bought two heads of lettuce! Of course I said no, but he insisted! Pretty funny and sweet in its own way!! (Isn't it said that two heads are better than one?)
Have a great Sunday!

Week three...book review

Hello Everyone! It has been a busy few weeks for me and I'm going to make every effort in visiting all my friends this weekend and try to get caught up!! Although, this weekend is my daughter's baby shower and I have a wedding shower on Saturday!!
I have read a couple of chapters in the Scent of the Missing while I was at Six Flags on Saturday! I still LOVE the book. In one of the chapters, she was talking about thinking like your dogs...right....think about it, they have sixth senses and sometimes we do have to use our sixth sense in some incidences. Now I'm onto the training of Puzzle, I don't think I mentioned that to you, but Puzzle is the dog's name. They start to train the SAR dogs at a very young age, as soon as the dogs get their shots, they are in training.

Did you know that SAR dogs can demonstrate any number of nose-driven skills...(page 58)
Air-scent, living or dead, fire, disaster sites, wilderness places and on and on.

So again, I love this book and I came up with a good idea...if you would like me to send this USED book to you, just leave me a comment that you would like to read this book, when I'm through with my book review, I will pick a name out of the doggy bowl and then you can read it! Kind of like a Paw it Forward, but with a book! I'm keeping it in good shape too!

I will have week four next Tuesday...if all goes as planned!

Walking into Six Flags, I saw this licence plate! Can you believe it! A true lover of Six Flags, I'm sure of it!

Have a great day!

Isn't this the cutest picture ever!!

This is a baby turkey!
Have a happy Friday!

Hey, what is all this going on!

What a cute little chipmunk and I'm sure he was wondering what was going on with all the smoke the past few days~ The little critters were very lucky in the woods that this fire was only a brush fire that was mainly on the ground. It was large in our standards, about three acres were smoldering.

The trucks were just called again yesterday because a tree was still smoldering and we didn't want it to start up again. Fortunately, we are expecting rain so that will help the firemen!
We hope you all have a happy Wednesday!

Lucky and the Horse Whisperer

Howdy Friends! Busy week this week! I can't believe it's Saturday, never mind the middle of August. The summer is going by so fast and although I love the fall, this summer has been beautiful for us in the North East! But that is coming from someone who LOVES the heat and humidity!
It was time to call in a horse trainer for Lucky. She is a little shy and needed some work. This is my daughter's fiance and he is really working with her. The trainer is teaching him how to go in and out of the stall. I normally do not go in the stall with the horses, they are much bigger than us and they rule in my world. But there is a right way and a wrong way to enter the stall. If the horse shows you his hiny, then get out!
Lucky can't stand to be sprayed with bug spray. The trick is to rub the horse down with the spray bottle and make fake noises...guess what...it worked! After several times, Lucky did get use to it and now will allow you to spray her.
This women is the horse trainer. She is so good. She is to me the "Horse Whisperer!" She was teaching us how to wash her down with the hose. Lucky didn't like that too much either.
We had some bad excitement at the house tonight. The back woods were on fire when we got home and the firemen think we lost about 3 acres of woods. This is the water company land but it runs right behind our house. You know, when I got out of the car I said it smelled like someone is having a camp fire. I didn't know the woods were on fire. My neighbor came running over and thankfully all is well. I will have to see what happened in the morning.

xxoo

Just for laughs!

This very cute joke just came over the Internet from the local tack shop and I thought it was pretty funny...

Little Jackie attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Jackie asked, 'Dad, why are you doing that?' His father replied, 'Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Jackie, looking worried, said, 'Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom ....'

Cute joke!!

Have a great day!

PS. My book club is running late this week! Working too many hours to catch up on my reading!!

Bud Can Swim!!!

Bud does swim! He only wished the pool
was heated..

A lot of you asked me the other day if Bud, our bunny can swim and he can! Bud likes the water! Apparently a lot of rabbits swim! This isn't as strange as it seems! We haven't tried Ciara yet because we don't think she is ready. As you can see, my son doesn't leave his side either!

Have a great day!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Hi everyone! I hope your all enjoying your weekend! I just got back from the Lily Club picnic with my Mother! Even the dogs had fun! The cute guy above was looking at the tomato thinking it was a ball! This pretty pink flower is a dahlia.

This garden is huge, the most lilies I've ever seen in a private garden! Now I know why I come in second and third at the shows! LOL This is only one of his gardens! The lily season is over for us now, but I could only imagine what this must have looked like!

Another cute pup!
He did have a few left! I love this lily! I'm going to try to grow them next year!
I love red barns and he had one!
Another cute little dog enjoying her day!
Mom and me! My mother loves going to these picnics and they are fun! This group of people takes growing lilies real serious! Every summer I say I will do better next year then next year comes and guess what!!! In the fall we will buy more bulbs and try again!
Have a happy weekend!

An unknown person sent this from the US Postal office.

Hey friends, I was forwarded this email today from my friend in Cayman Brac and I thought I would share it with you~

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her.. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it.. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand.. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey &Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by..
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

Love,
God

I thought this was very sweet I have heard of Santa Claus answering letters, but not God. Someone has a very gentle soul. Have a happy day~

How do you like the new color of my fur?

Lilly here...
Isn't it lovely! Blonde, my favorite fur color, I had it all over my back last week. I bet your wondering what I did to get this beautiful color....
Lilly's!!! My name sake! Hey, who ever said cats can't color our fur! For you lilly lovers (I'm talking about the lilly, not me), the stamen is what causes our fur to turn yellow! It gets on everything! That is why Mom usually picks the stamen off, but this lilly had opened and she missed it until she saw me! (hehehehe) I'm just seeing if blondes have more fun, Mom says they don't! She should know, she just colored her hair back to brunette!! OPPS did I say that!
Happy Thursday everyone!

Week two...book review!

I did it! I made the cut for reading chapter two by Tuesday! LOL. I have to say I really enjoy this book and any animal lover would. No, I'm not being paid to do this book review!!
Chapter two was about the Susannah Charleson picking out her Golden Retriever, the process she went through because she is going to use this pup for SAR...Search and Rescue...
She also rescued dogs and most of her dogs are rescues and fosters dogs. She wrote about one sweet, very old, Pomeranian, Scruppy, who was about to be put down because he was so old and sickly that no one wanted him, except for Susannah. It turned out that this little blind, deaf, old dog was a very nice companion and it really makes me think that maybe more people should foster...just a thought!
The chapter comes to the end and she brings home her puppy, Puzzle. So the adventure continues....until next week~
